These are rarely advertised in local newspapers simply because it doesn’t cater to people who have no computers and internet connection at home. Data entry jobs usually require you to have good speaking, writing and typing skills. You should be prepared to take a test over instant messaging phone programs.
Usually, online employers use Skype, MSN messenger and YM to communicate with their staff. If you’re no good at using these tools, you should rethink your career plans. Work at home data entry jobs call for computer literate individuals who won’t need constant technical support from other people. Some companies might even expect a certain degree of specialized technical knowledge on your part especially if you’ll be providing some support for the company’s clients.
Most of these work at home data entry jobs, however, are more simple. You might just be asked to transcribe a recording, call costumers and ask for their feedbacks, and the like. If you work a day job, or you’re a fulltime mother, this is a perfect income opportunity for you.
Preparations

Most work at home positions require certain OS capabilities from your computers because you’ll be running specific programs on the job. Set up a home office
Unlike other work at home opportunities, data entry jobs actually require full concentration. You wouldn’t want to talk to a client while you’re in the living room and the kids are screaming. If you want to be successful at your online job, then you should treat it with equal respect as you would an office position. Commit a secluded corner or room in the house for your work space, and make sure that this space is conducive. As much as possible, set a fixed schedule for yourself so you won’t be rushing through everything at the end of the day.
Keep your communications limited to emails, especially when you’re transacting with a client. This will help you filter your professional communications from your personal ones. Unless it’s a serious emergency, avoid taking any calls from your home phone. Remember, the less time you spend on useless babble, the more money you make by staying at home.
